Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how QuikTek Consulting LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Safar – The Journey Game (“Safar”), published under the QuikTek Studios brand.
It applies to:
- the Safar web application at our public Safar sites, including safargame.com and related development or staging environments; and
-
the Safar Android application distributed under the Android package name
com.quiktek.safar.
The Android application packages its game files inside the app. You can play a journey on Android without an internet connection.
If you have questions about this policy or our privacy practices, contact us at privacy@quiktekco.com.
Summary of current Safar behavior
Safar is designed to run without a Safar user account or a Safar gameplay backend. In the current version of Safar:
- We do not provide user accounts or authentication through Safar.
- We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, dates of birth, or age through the Safar application.
- Player names, board position, question history, and the active journey stay in application memory for that session. Safar does not transmit them to QuikTek servers.
- On the web, a full page refresh or closing the browser ends the current journey, except for the preferences described below. On Android, an active journey is not kept after Android stops the app process.
- We do not currently use analytics, telemetry, session replay, crash-reporting tools, or first-party cookies in Safar.
- Safar does not currently collect the Android advertising ID.
-
Certified production advertising in Safar currently remains off, on the
web and on Android. The presence of an
ads.txtfile on our site is publisher verification metadata only and does not load advertising technology by itself.
Information processed by Safar today
Device-local preferences
Safar stores a small set of preferences under the storage key
safar-settings-v1. The stored fields are:
- reduceMotion – your motion preference (system, on, or off)
- confirmBeforeLeavingGame – whether Safar asks before leaving an active game
- themeId – your selected visual theme
Safar does not send these preferences to QuikTek servers.
On the web, Safar stores them in the browser’s local storage for the Safar site you are using. They remain there until you reset them in Safar’s Settings screen or clear site data for Safar in your browser.
On Android, Safar stores the same key in the app’s WebView local storage, which is private to the Safar app. The preferences remain after you leave the app or restart it. You can delete that saved key with Reset Settings in the app. You can also delete the app’s stored data from Android’s app storage settings for Safar. Android backup may copy and later restore these preferences, as described below.
Safar may read your device’s system “prefers reduced motion” setting when your motion preference is set to follow the system. That signal is used only to apply the current view. Safar does not store it as a separate record.
Gameplay and player-entered names
When you play Solo or Local Multiplayer, Safar uses the names you enter and the journey state in memory so the game can run. That state includes information such as board position, turn order, question history, and game phase.
This information is not written to QuikTek servers and is not used to create a persistent
player profile. It is not written into the safar-settings-v1 preferences.
Leaving a game or returning home clears the in-progress journey according to the in-app
navigation. On Android, stopping the app process also discards the active journey.
Build information shown in the app
The About screen may display the Safar version and a short build identifier compiled into the application at release time. This is static product metadata, not personal information collected from you.
Information we do not collect through Safar today
Through the current Safar web and Android applications, we do not:
- create Safar user accounts or authentication identities;
- collect contact information, date of birth, or age;
- collect precise or approximate location through Safar;
- maintain gameplay history, statistics, or leaderboards on Safar servers;
- operate a Safar backend API that receives gameplay or player information;
- use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or session replay tools in Safar;
- set first-party cookies through Safar;
- collect the Android advertising ID through Safar.
Android backup
Android Auto Backup is enabled for the Safar Android app. When backup is turned on for your device, Android may back up eligible app data, including the Safar preferences stored in the app, through the backup service configured on your device. Those backups may be restored after you reinstall Safar or move to another device.
QuikTek Consulting LLC does not receive or access those backups.
In the current app, player names and the active journey are held in memory. They are not written into Safar’s saved preferences. Removing Safar from a device removes the copy stored in that installation. It does not delete a copy that your backup provider already holds.
Network access
Android gameplay is packaged inside the app and does not require an internet connection.
The Android app declares the Android INTERNET permission because Safar is
shown in an Android WebView. A review of the current Safar source found no active Safar
gameplay backend and no active analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising requests.
This policy does not state that Android, Google Play, the WebView component, or other software on the device will never use the network while Safar is installed.
From the About screen, Privacy Policy opens /privacy.html and
How to Play opens /how-to-play.html. On the website, those
are pages on the Safar site. In the Android app, they are the same pages packaged inside
the app. A link from this policy to another website, and email to
privacy@quiktekco.com, opens outside the Android
app. On the web, those links open in your browser.
Hosting and infrastructure processing
This section applies to the Safar websites. Packaged Android gameplay uses files inside the app and does not need to contact those sites in order to play.
Safar’s websites are delivered as a static web application hosted through our web hosting provider. To deliver the site, operate it securely, and troubleshoot issues, hosting infrastructure may process ordinary HTTP information such as IP address, browser or request metadata, requested URLs, timestamps, and similar technical log data. This processing supports site delivery, security, and operations.
We do not control every detail of hosting-provider log retention from within the Safar application. This policy does not state a fixed retention period for those logs.
Our public deployment verification file (/release.json) exposes non-personal
build metadata, such as a Git commit identifier, so we can confirm which application
version is deployed. Safar’s game does not need to read this file in order to play.
Google Play and Android platform services
When you install or update Safar from Google Play, or when you use Android backup and other device services, Google and Android may process information such as app installation, updates, backup, and device diagnostics under their own terms and privacy policies. That processing is separate from a Safar account. Safar does not operate that platform processing.
Advertising
Current state: Certified Safar production advertising is
off on the web and on Android. The current Android app does not include
an active AdMob SDK, does not make AdSense ad requests, and does not collect the Android
advertising ID. Safar does not currently load the Google AdSense script, Auto Ads, or
other advertising technology in production gameplay. The static ads.txt file
at our site root is used for publisher and site verification and does not by itself serve
ads or set advertising cookies.
If Google advertising is enabled in a future version
Safar may later integrate Google advertising services, such as Google AdSense for web placements, if separately authorized and enabled. That future configuration would be different from Safar’s current production behavior. If and when such advertising is enabled, the following may apply in addition to the practices above:
- Google advertising services may receive information such as IP address, device and browser information, the page URL, and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies on your device.
- Google may use this information to deliver and measure ads, help prevent fraud and abuse, and, where permitted, personalize advertising.
- Planned Safar ad placements, if enabled, are intended only for natural breaks after a completed journey, not during active gameplay, setup, navigation, settings, About, or other utility screens.
- Before serving applicable advertising to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Safar intends to present appropriate consent choices through a consent management approach consistent with applicable requirements and Google’s publisher policies.
You may learn more about Google’s use of information from sites and apps that use Google services at:
Advertising choice resources that may apply when advertising is enabled include:
We will update this Privacy Policy before enabling advertising in production, on the web or on Android, so that it reflects the then-current practices, choices, and providers.
Audience
Safar is intended for a general audience and families. Safar is not specifically directed to children under 13. Safar does not currently request age or date of birth for advertising purposes.
We do not make unsupported claims about who may access Safar on the internet. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising use of online services by children in their care.
Your choices
- You can reset Safar’s saved preferences from the in-app Settings screen.
- On the web, you can also clear site data for Safar in your browser.
- On Android, you can also clear Safar’s stored data from Android’s app storage settings. If a backup service later restores the app, preferences included in that backup may return. Uninstalling Safar does not delete copies already held by that backup provider.
- On the web, you can end the current journey by refreshing the page, closing the browser tab, or leaving the game.
- On Android, you can end the current journey by leaving the game. Android stopping the app process also discards the active journey.
- You can contact us at privacy@quiktekco.com with privacy questions or requests related to Safar.
Support correspondence
If you email privacy@quiktekco.com, you choose what to include in that message. We use that correspondence to respond to your question or request. The Safar game does not collect that email through the app. This policy does not set a fixed retention period for support email.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes, such as enabling advertising in production, will be reflected here before or when those changes take effect.
